Hiatus

So…yeah. the new year is here and there is no Sledgepuppy EP. Broken promises, I know. BUT DON’T FRET. When it came down to it, I just wasn’t ready to churn out five songs within a month and a half period and still be proud of it. I still want to bring my best to you guys, because you deserve my best. That is why I have devised a new strategy for releasing music to the interwebs.

Firstly, screw iTunes. I don’t like the whole 30-90 second preview thing, and I also don’t like the fact that I had to wait until just YESTERDAY to finally get my first payment for “Declaration.” I MUCH prefer the BandCamp model. You can hear the whole song, no strings attached, and then if you want to buy it, you can in just a few clicks. Plus, there’s no middleman (like Tunecore for iTunes). So from now on, I’m gonna use BandCamp as my primary domain for music sales.

Secondly, it recently occurred to me that it takes me a long time to write, record, and master a song, let alone an EP or full-length album. So for 2012, I am going to try my DARNDEST to bring you a new song each month, starting in February. So hopefully, by December, I will have 12 new songs (including “Declaration”) that I may put together as a physical album. So instead of a bunch of songs at once, you’ll get a new song each month.

Thirdly, … there is no thirdly. I just want everyone to know I did not fall off the face of the Earth and will continue to make time for music among two jobs, school, a girlfriend,  and many other unforeseen time-suckers. I AM BACK

Single from “Sledgepuppy” to be released on 11/11

WELLL I know way back when I had stated that I would have an all-new EP ready for release next Friday, 11/11/11 (which I have since found out is National Metal Day!). It would seem that school and work have hindered this process just a bit, so it’s just not quite ready for public release yet.

BUT!!! I do have one track from the album ready to go. So you all are still going to be able to hear brand new music from me next Friday. I will release it on Bandcamp for now, and possibly iTunes in the future, for just 99 cents. Why? Because you guys are the best fans in the world.

The EP WILL BE FINISHED BEFORE 2012. I cannot stress this enough. This project is very important to me. NEXT FRIDAY! BE THERE!

It’s super easy, just click the word “VOTE” next to the audio clip below (or, just click here). It ask for an email and send you a confirmation that you open to complete the vote. So, to recap…

1. Click vote on the widget below (or if you can’t see it, click HERE)

2. Enter a valid email address

3. Open your email, then follow the URL in said email

4. You have successfully made my day!

I know it’s tedious, so I REALLY REALLY appreciate if anyone does this for me. If I win this contest, it could mean big exposure for me. thankyouthankyouthankyouthankyou!!

Wasting Light Unplugged: See It On YouTube, Hear It On Bandcamp!

If you’ve got to this website somehow, it is probably safe to assume you’ve at least seen one of my Foo Fighters videos on YouTube (or under the videos tab at the top of this page). This past week, I finally finished the project of covering the whole Wasting Light album with my Martin and my vocal chords. In addition, I went back through the audio from each of my videos, spruced them up, and put them in a fancy FREE ALBUM DOWNLOAD on my Bandcamp page. If you’ve ever watched my videos, heard any of my original songs, or ever considered yourself to be an acquaintance of mine, I would really appreciate it if you downloaded it. IT’S FREE! Also, it will help me to see who’s interested in a month when I release my next project. THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU if you take the time to download it!

Here’s the link to download WASTING LIGHT UNPLUGGED (again, completely free)

…and here’s my YouTube playlist for Wasting Light Unplugged

Already Gone (Bayside) Solo Contest

My buddy Jon told me about this cool contest where a band (in this case, Bayside) puts up a song of theirs sans-guitar solo and you record your take, post it, and if the band likes yours the most, you can win all kinds of exposure. I figured “what the hey” and entered my take in this contest. Bayside is a pop-punk band, so I attempted to keep that feel throughout the solo and not just go all John Petrucci on everyone. Not that that would even be a possibility… but anyway, check it out below and let me know what ya’ll think in the comments!

Also, if you’re interested in these types of contests, you can find this one and others at Indaba Music.
